A better life with seafood

Fiskeriforskning is organising the annual SEAFOODplus Conference in May. This year's theme is "Seafood for a better life".

We are expecting up to 200 participants from a number of European countries for the conference, which is the third in succession", says Joop Luten, who is a Senior Scientist at Fiskeriforskning with responsibility for EU collaboration.

Reduces risk of diseases

Up to 40 scientists from Europe and the USA will also participate at the conference, which will span two days. The first day of the conference will be common for all participants, and will present an overview over how far the work in the SEAFOODplus Programme has progressed. The theme for the day is "Seafood for a better life".

On the second day, three parallel symposia with a number of contributions from Norwegian seafood research will centre around consumer-oriented seafood product development, how seafood can reduce the risk of chronic diseases, and how to manage microbial seafood safety.

Fiskeriforskning plays an important role

Fiskeriforskning is a leading player in SEAFOODplus, participating in 8 out of 20 research projects under the auspices of the organisation, which is the largest research programme on seafood the EU has ever supported financially.

Fiskeriforskning is also the coordinator for two important research programmes in SEAFOODplus; "Seafood from source to consumer products" and "Seafood from aquaculture".
