There is a big baptism party at the Norwegian Cod Breeding Centre in Tromsø this autumn as 30,000 cod juveniles receive their own personal identity numbers.
When the cod are six months old, each fish receives its own identity.
With the insertion of an electronic tag, cod from 200 families this autumn received their own personal identity numbers and were registered in the breeding programme. The computer system ensures there is always full control over which family any given cod comes from.
