Facts about Astrid Nilsson

I am working with strategic research, connection between research and innovation, development of strategies and new priority scientific area. I am working with development of vision of the future techniques as strategic tools for describing changes. My research area is lipids; Lipids and food quality, oxidation, bioactive lipids, nutrition and health.

I am a Principal Scientist and received my PhD (Dr Scient) in biochemistry at the University of Oslo in 1987. The scientific work was done at The Institute of Nutrition Research, University of Oslo in the field partially hydrogenated marine oil, nutrition and the risk of cardiovascular diseases (more exactly induction mechanism of peroxisomal beta oxidation). After this I was working 3 years as a Post Doc at another scientific group at The Institute of Nutrition Research dealing with Vitamin A and Cancer. In 1991 I was engaged at Matforsk (now Nofima Mat) to build up a research group dealing with lipid and food quality. I was Department leader, Raw Material and Processing in the period 1996 until 2002. Since this I have been Assistant Research Director with a short period as temporary director of the innovation area “Food, health and consumer”.
