I’m a Ph.D. scientist in Nofima Marin, belonging to the group “Fish health”. My doctoral project is part of the NRC financed project ”Skeletal malformations in farmed salmon and cod: a functional approach to determine causalities and mechanisms”. My role in the project is to study genes involved the pathogenesis of aberrant vertebrae development in Atlantic salmon and to characterize the underlying mechanisms of vertebral fusions. To do this I have used molecular markers involved in osteogenesis and chondrogenesis to follow the development of deformities in the skeletal system in salmon. Different molecular methods, such as real time PCR, in situ hybridization and microarray are used.
