I work as a research scientist in food microbiology at Nofima food. My working areas are mainly within microbial food safety with specific focus on foodborne pathogenic bacteria including e.g. Escherichia coli, Listeria monocytogenes and Salmonella. Work includes understanding growth, survival and spread of foodborne bacterial pathogens in food and food environments/surfaces and how food associated stress factors (e.g. acids, salt, disinfectants etc.) and food processing affect survival and growth of foodborne pathogens.

I am a civil engineer in chemistry, biotechnology from NTH (NTNU) and finished my Ph.D. in 1998 (Resistance to disinfectants in staphylococci). In the period 1998-2003 I worked at the Norwegian Institute of Public Health with molecular characterisation and typing of foodborne pathogenic bacteria.
