My main areas of research are quantitative genetics and animal breeding with application to economic aspects of breeding schemes, and definition of breeding objectives, in particular development of methods to define breeding objectives for sustainable production. Present research activities include optimization of breeding schemes with genomic information and estimation of genetic parameters for aquaculture species. Other research areas of interest are inbreeding and conservation of animal genetic resources.
I have a master degree in agricultural sciences from the Royal Veterinary and Agricultural University, Copenhagen, Denmark and a PhD from the Danish Institute of Agricultural Sciences, Foulum, Denmark / Royal Veterinary and Agricultural University, Copenhagen, Denmark. After my PhD I did a Post Doc. at the Department of Animal and Aquacultural Sciences (at Norwegian University of Life Sciences), Ås, Norway.
