Facts about Ida Rud

Research

I work as a research scientist in the microbiology group at Nofima Mat where I am involved in projects related to microbial community analyses of gut bacteria (in humans and animals). I am also involved in research on the primary metabolism of lactic acid bacteria (i.e. lactobacilli), which is based on my PhD degree in this field. My expertise is mainly development and application of molecular biological methods (e.g. gene expression systems, gene cloning, identification and quantification of bacteria using 16S rRNA sequencing and Real-Time PCR, and DNA micro/macroarrays), in addition to physiology and genetics of the metabolism of lactic acid bacteria.

Education

I have a PhD from The Norwegian University of Life Sciences (2008) with the title “Primary metabolism in Lactobacillus – A study of control and regulation of acid production”. My Cand Scient degree was appointed from the same university in 2002 with the title “Development of a multiplex quantitative PCR method for determination and quantification of genetically modified maize”.
