I work as a senior research scientist in the nutrition group at Nofima Marin. Since 2003 I’ve also been a member of the Gut Health Section of Aquaculture Protein Centre (APC), which is a Centre of Excellence (CoE) established by the Research Council of Norway as a partnership among the Norwegian University of Life Sciences (UMB), the Norwegian School of Veterinary Science (NVH), and Nofima.
My main professional interests, competence, and experiences are within the fields of nutrition and digestive physiology in fish. Within these fields I do both strategic publicly funded research and applied R&D financed by commercial interests. Currently I’m mainly doing science on salmonid nutrition, focusing on biological evaluation of feed ingredients, and on digestive function in salmonids and Atlantic cod, focusing on bioactive components in protein ingredients. I also give consultancy about feedstuffs, feed formulation and nutritional value of commercial fish feeds.
