The objective of this project is to contribute with industry-relevant knowledge about competitive strategies and organisation that can lead to competitive advantages for companies within farming of marine species.
Creating competitive advantages within marine fish farming - a critical review of competitive positioning and organizational form
The project focuses on cod farming. In the project, we will review experiences tied to competitive strategy and organisation for farming of different marine species, and will also compare these with experiences from salmon farming. The following research questions will be studied:
- What kinds of competitive tools within both differentiation and low cost exist in marine farming?
- What kinds of production principles can be identified that support the range of competitive tools, including extensive production compared with large-scale intensive production regimes?
- What kinds of organisational forms are suitable to support the range of tools for competitive positioning, particularly with a view to flexibility and adaptation?
