What are Brazilian consumers looking for when choosing a bacalhau product?

Brazil is an extremely important market for Norwegian produscers of salted and dried cod, in Portuguese called bacalhau. It is also a very attractive food item for Brazilian consumers especially for Easter and Christmas.

Earlier observations indicate a non-standard way of labelling the products, from baclahau only to branded and very sophisticated products. The ambitions of the project is to map some important retail stores to understand better how consumers use the inforrmation cues presented on the product itself and at the point of sale (POS). It will also be considered doing a qualitative study involving consumers who regularly buys bacalhau.
