Ready-to-eat meals

Putting together a meal that maintains consistency, flavour and other vital properties such as crispness or juiciness in all its components is demanding.

More and more ready meals are coming onto the market. The food industry needs knowledge about how the various components affect each other.

Different treatment of the different components will make everything taste at its best when the consumer applies the finishing touch. The ready meal may go into the microwave or it might be dipped into boiling water. A great deal of research work is needed to get all the components to taste good while safeguarding the healthy components.

Production must also be efficient and not demand too many resources. A number of projects have been initiated in recent years with the aim of arriving at new and tasty ready meals for the market - both for consumers and professional catering companies.
