Symposium

Multivariate Data modelling for systems biology

Facts

Start 12. January 2009
End 16. January 2009

The course will have a special focus on data from human intervention studies, and presents new ways to analyse such multiomics data. The obtained design information and observed omics- data from different measurement principles form multi-matrix data that are highly heterogeneous.

The participants will learn to analyse their own systems biology -omics data with a special focus on human intervention studies. Special emphasis will be put on the practical training in data analysis. The software needed for the data analysis will be provided during the course. The course is directed to PhD students and researchers of biological sciences, who wish to learn how to analyse their own data.

  • Topics:

  • Introduction into basic principles in statistics
  • Design and analysis of designed experiments/intervention studies
  • Pre-treatment of data, e.g. baseline corrections
  • Extracting the patterns of information in one or two data tables (Principal component analysis and partial least squares regression)
  • Concepts for the analysis of several data sets (multiblock and multimatrix methods)
  • Methods for validation and significance testing
