Antioxidants

Correct use of antioxidants in foods containing marine lipids is of great importance.

Nofima has carried out several trials which show the effect of antioxidants during processing of fish raw materials and the production of feed.

The choice of the correct antioxidants depends on the product type and, as such, it is necessary to carry out simple tests before we implement pilot and large-scale trials.

The correct dosage of antioxidants and the timing of the dosage in the process are also of great importance.

An analytical method based on accelerated testing has been developed, which is used to evaluate different antioxidants for application in both oil and powder based products.
