The Norwegian traceability project has the following goal:
- by 2010 a national electronic infrastructure for effective exchange of information in the food supply chain should be established.
The goal of the work in autumn 2008 and into 2009:
- To establish a frame work for a common system and technology solutions for electronic traceability in Norway
A national common solution for traceability in Norway is complex because amongst other things this includes
- All food businesses in Norway
- Specific relationships in all branches
- Spesific requirements in all product and process lines
Since there are no established solutions for these challenges it will be necessary to develop and new frame work for this task.
In order to develop this framework there are many questions which must be answered:
- Which of the businesses have responsibility with regards to eTraceability?
- Should a standard be defined?
- How comprehensive should the solution be with regards to whether the state will take responsibility for running the system?
- Who should own the data and where should the data be stored?
The frame work will be to give an overview and fundamental description of the eTraceability solution. This framework will be the basis for further work with eTraceability.
Nofima Market is in the project phase specially involved in work related to business analysis, process mapping and establishment and implementation of unique number series as a basis for traceability.
