Choice of organisation

The process from raw material to finished product consists of many different phases.

An important strategic decision is to determine which aspects of this process/the supply chain the company chooses to include in its activity.

In the food industry, there are many ways of organising the different parts of the production. Some companies attempt to include as much of the production as possible in their activity, while other concentrate on just one or a small number of activities

Nofima Marked has implemented a host of analyses of the connection between the degree of specialisation and profitability.

We also do such analyses to acquire knowledge about how the supply chain is organised in order to study how structure and effectiveness changes over time at industrial sector level.
