Første utkast av de nye ISO-standardene vil være basert på de europeiske standardene "CWA 14659 Traceability of fishery products - Specification of information to be recorded in farmed fish distribution chains" og "CWA 14660 Traceability of fishery products - Specification on the information to be recorded in captured fish distribution chains" som ble utviklet i TraceFish prosjektet, også ledet av Nofima (da Fiskeriforskning).
Dette arbeidet kan ha betydning for matvaretrygghet, merkevarebygging, bærekraftighet og svart fiske (IUU catch - Illegal Unregulated and Unreported fishing).
Tidligere har Nofima deltatt i arbeidet med ISO standarden ISO22005:2007 ‘Traceability in the feed and food chain -General principles and basic requirements for system design and implementation'.
