Research interest
I am working as a Ph.D fellow in the research program “Fruits and vegetables-from raw materials to health effects”. My area of research is to characterize the chemical structures of polyphenols from selected berries and vegetables. This is carried out by using liquid chromatography (HLPC) with different detectors, such as mass spectrometry (MS) and UV-visible light detectors. As part of the project I will isolate fractions of specific polyphenols from brassica vegetables in order to investigate their influence the human health. A long with chemicals methods to investigate the compounds properties, in vitro cell systems will be used. I am going to study the cellular absorption of specific polyphenols and their corresponding effects on the epithelial layer, and their potential effects on certain diseases.
Education
I have a M.Sc. (2007) in analytical chemistry and B. Sc. (2005) in chemistry from the University of Oslo.
