Facts about Kristin Hollung

I work with proteome analyses of muscle and meat, mainly from bovine and porcine origin. In addition to the study of enzymes and metabolic proteins I am also interested in proteolysis of structural muscle proteins, mainly in dry-cured hams. During the last years I have been responsible for the establishment of proteomics as a research tool at Nofima Mat, based on 2-dimensional gel electrophoresis and mass spectrometry.

I have a Master in biotechnology from Division of Genetics, Biological Institute at University of Oslo (1992) focused on gene cloning and methylation in developing barley seeds. In my PhD in genetics from the same institute I worked with gene expression in developing barley seeds. After my PhD I worked 5 years at Institute for nutrition research at UiO as a post doc and research scientist. During these years I worked with different projects related to cancer and cardiovascular disease focusing on gene expression and effects of fatty acids (both poly- and monounsaturated and saturated). Since 2002 I have been employed at Nofima Mat.
