Research interest:
I belong to the microbiology-group at Matforsk. My main research interests are antibacterial action of disinfectants and preservatives and how bacteria respond to antibacterial components through various stress-responses, resistance acquisition and biofilm formation. The work is mainly related to stress-factors associated with food and food production, but we have also investigated cross-resistance to antibiotics. At present my main research activities are:
1. Use of natural antimicrobials and antioxidants in marination of fish and meat
2. Global responses of Staphylococcus aureus subjected to acid and oxidative stress or induced to form biofilm (investigated using microarray technology).
3. Biofilm formation and disinfectant resistance in Salmonella (in cooperation with Dr. Live Nesse at the Veterinary Institute)
4. Resistance to quaternary ammonium compounds in E.coli
