Facts about Jan Thomas Rosnes

Competance

I started my work at Nofima in 1993 and have been involved with different topics connected to microbial activity in foods. The research focus has been on control of pathogenic food borne bacteria, but also on spoilage that lead to reduced quality. When different technologies are used for food production my part has been to optimise hygienic production, carry out shelf life studies and document that the products are microbiological safe.

Education

My Msc. from the University of Bergen (UiB) was on marine microbial ecology. I continued at UiB with a PhD on anaerobic microorganisms connected to oil production in the North Sea. At a stay at the Danish Technological University I worked with a project on microbial methane production. During the last 10 years I have given lectures at High schools and during the last 3 years I have been an Associate Professor II at the University of Stavanger.
