Analyse your competition situation. When your company begins an innovation process, you must allow time to carry out an analysis of the competition. Find out who your competitors are and what their strengths and weaknesses are.

You should check out three areas in particular:

  • Sensory competitor analysis - taste differences and similarities in competing products
  • Market analysis - how big a market share do competing products have
  • Volume and economy - has the volume increased or decreased over a recent period. What are others' strengths and weaknesses?
