Process management

Before you can achieve an end product of consistent quality, you must have input knowledge about raw materials, processes, production, spectroscopy, chemometry and statistics. Process management provides rapid answers and more efficient production. There are often enormous quantities of data involved, that must be collated and made understandable for non-statisticians.

Nofima Mat has extensive experience of building process models that describe the relationships between raw material quality, process settings and the quality of the end product. The models are used to find the optimum process settings for various qualities of raw materials, which result in the quality of the end product being both good and consistent. Process management also helps to reduce both wastage and energy consumption.

In process management we are researching:

  • process modelling and the optimisation of sustainable production
  • the optimisation of spectroscopic data in the industry
  • the development of models that are less sensitive to irrelevant information
