Food and meals are being bought and enjoyed ever more rapidly than before. The food should taste good, be fresh, delicious and preferably also healthy. The supermarkets have seen the writing on the wall, and they are going in more and more for ready-to-eat food for immediate consumption. Food service is the fastest growing sales channel. We can see an increasing focus on take away food and on direct delivery to home or work.

We can also see a blurring of the food retail and catering functions, with combination concepts like "cafe and shop" for ready meals seeing the light of day.

Product development is also a result of the influence of the supermarket chains. The fight for shelf space and consumer attention means that suppliers must present product ranges that safeguard both stability and renewal.

Choose your sales channels carefully. If you have found your niche, the more you know about the channels for selling your product the stronger you will be.
